About
The life behind the line.
Notable Notations is self-help told as a story, not as a slogan. A famous line is never the whole of it. The page starts where the reader already is: the problem. Then it tells the real human story behind the words, including the places where a popular quotation has been smoothed, shortened, or pinned on the wrong person. Then the figure stands as a mentor, and leaves one small action that can be done today.
The three parts stay in that order. Problem. Story. Action. If the wording people know is not the wording in the letter, the page says so. If a date or a fact cannot be checked, it is left out. No invented quotations.
The pictures follow the same restraint. The paper is the natural white #F2EEE6. The type is black. The halftone is warm grey, and it never draws the thing it means: a storm is a gap in the dots, a path is where the dots have stepped aside. Colour belongs only to a category’s motto and, when a real figure is there, to the lenses.
Eleven categories hold the work, from Overcoming Adversity to Art and Expression. Van Gogh is the first figure, because the letter is real and the portrait is his. The other fields will wait for their own people.
Notable Notations is a brand by Futuuri Works.
